This hotel in Geelong is a true gem. the attention to detail is impressive, from the beautifully restored rooms with hardwood floors to the picturesque view of the outside streets. Secondly, the location is unbeatable, right in the centre of town on a busy intersection. Thirdly, the staff provided excellent service, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Finally, the value for money is fantastic, with all the basic amenities provided at a competitive price.
All was more than ok, no complaints at all.

The building at Gatehouse On Ryrie is a charming, period house with convenient parking close to the city center. My spacious bedroom was tastefully furnished, although the shared bathroom was a bit disappointing. However, I appreciated the recently renovated and attractive bathroom, as well as the thoughtful automatic lighting in the corridor for nighttime trips. The proprietor, Paul, was friendly and accommodating, making my stay even more enjoyable. The highlight was discovering the unexpected surprise of a lounge with guitars and a piano, adding a touch of uniqueness to the experience. I had an amazing stay at this excellent value for money accommodation. I highly recommend it to others seeking a cozy and centrally located place to stay.

Big rooms, a lot of food was left in the fridge and it didn't seem that the guests claimed it. Good choice of continental breakfast. Nice common room and good kitchen with all there you need. The beds are comfortable and heating works perfectly in case of cold weather. Not sure about the aircon.
Just one combined toilet/bathroom in each floor which is not enough if fully booked. Parking is good enough for 5 cars max. Parking on the street is possible if you leave early, also free. There is WIFI in the building but the owner refused to share the WIFI key. McDonalds is next door, so WIFI would be available from there but very slow.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel and was delighted by several aspects. the attention to detail was exceptional, from the beautifully restored rooms to the thoughtful automatic lighting in the corridor. The heritage building itself exuded charm and character, offering a unique experience. Additionally, the hotel's central location on a bustling intersection made it incredibly convenient for exploring the city.
In terms of improvements, I believe the breakfast options could be expanded. While the breakfast provided was clean and sufficient, I would have appreciated more cooked options to choose from.

Great value for money, parking on site, central location and very comfortable room with everything you need. The house has a lovely old-world charm about it with original architectural features. Only 5 minutes walk to the beach and shopping. Definitely will stay again next time in Geelong.

Very friendly owner. Huge selection of DVDs to watch. Nice location near waterfront.
Bed was quite uncomfortable. One bathroom between three bedrooms was not enough; quite a wait in the morning.

The location is ideal for exploring the city with everything in town just a short walk away. For dining out, there are plenty of options nearby. the room was large and clean with a comfortable bed. the shared bathroom was magnificent with a clawed bath, toilet, and a cosy shower. the breakfast included a variety of options to choose from.
The noise from the street and nearby hotel kept me awake at night.

Hard to say
*it should be positioned as a hostel not a hotel. one combined shower and toilet for the whole floor *at the noise crossroad. the room did not even have curtains ans the shatters were insufficient to closed the window completely
